BOARDMAN - Funeral services will be held Tuesday at noon at the Tabernacle Evangelical Presbyterian Church for Agnes B. "Nancy" Eckert, 92, who died Friday evening at Hospice House.
Nancy was born Feb. 19, 1921, in Youngstown, to John and Agnes (Hunter) Crosbie.
She was a 1939 graduate of Chaney High School. Nancy worked for the Youngstown Board of Education for 35 years, and retired as the Director of Food Service in 1990. She was a devoted life long member of the Tabernacle Evangelical Presbyterian Church.
Nancy loved to cook and in 1955, she won Mrs. Youngstown and placed runner-up as Mrs. Ohio for her cooking and homemaking skills. She was beloved as a wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend.
Her husband, Louis R. Eckert, whom she married Sept. 23, 1943, died June 29, 1996.
Nancy is survived by her daughter, Nancy Smith of Austintown; two sons, Lawrence (Cathy) Eckert of Louisville, Ky., and James (Laura) Eckert of Toledo; nine grandchildren, Kristen (Mike) Reynolds, Todd (Tina) Smith, Julie (Ron) Fadel, Amy (Dr. Kevin) Mineo, Colton, Hunter, Marissa and Matthew Eckert, and Scott (Kelly) Maruniak; and 14 great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, John and Bill Crosbie; and sister, Jean Conaway.
Family and friends may call Tuesday from 10:30 a.m. to noon at the church.
The family has requested that material tributes take the form of donations to the Tabernacle Evangelical Presbyterian Church, 2432 Raccoon Road, Youngstown, OH 44515.
Professional arrangements are being handled by the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Austintown Chapel.
