AUSTINTOWN - Private family graveside services were held Wednesday afternoon at Calvary Cemetery for Albert G. Heitz, 92, who died Friday at Northside Medical Center.
Albert was born Oct. 14, 1920, in Youngstown, the son of Albert J. and Dorothy Weiss Heitz.
He was a 1938 graduate of Chaney High School and later served in the Army during World War II. He had worked for the A&P Company as its national meat director for the United States and Canada before retiring.
His wife, the former Mary Lou Traynor, whom he married in 1939, died May 30, 2011.
He is survived by two daughters, Karen Bart Schrode of Salem and Linda Winn of Rochester, Pa.; eight grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Patricia Whited; and a grandson, Douglas Pickett Jr.
The family has requested that material tributes take the form of donations to the Wounded Warriors Project in Albert's memory.
