Aletha Lee Schaefer, 95

New Middletown - Funeral Services will be held Saturday at 11:00 AM in St. Mark Lutheran Church 280 Mill Creek Drive, Boardman for Mrs. Aletha Lee Schaefer, age 95, Of New Middletown who died Saturday morning at her home. She was born September 23, 1911 in Chicago, Illinois a daughter of George F. and Harriet Hartstock Eggert. Aletha was a graduate of Starrett School University of Chicago with an associate degree in Secretarial Studies and was an executive secretary for the President of Allegheny Steel, Chicago. She married John George Schaefer May 16, 1936 in Chicago and moved to this area in 1946 from Pittsburgh, PA. They were married for 62 years.
Aletha was a homemaker, a member of the church and was an initial member of St. Mark's Altar Guild and was the organizer of the guild. She belonged to the Lutheran Laymen League of the church and was a former cub Scout Den Mother of Brownlee Woods Boy scout troop.
Aletha is survived by her daughter Aletha Lee and her husband Richard Bowden of Canfield; 3 sons, John G. and his wife Sharon Schaefer of Rockford, Ill., Glen E. and his wife Sherry of Beaver Creek, Ohio and Mark S. and his wife Carolyn Schaefer of Canfield and a daughter -in-law Marquerite Schaefer Ettleman; 13 grandchildren Connie Hudgins, John S. Schaefer, Dana Mally, Aletha Anderson, Stephen M. Bowden, R. Andrew Bowden; Nicole Schaefer, Ryan Schaefer, Rachel and Vanessa Schaefer and Daniel , Matthew and Madalyn Schaefer and 6 great grandchildren Grant and Adam Lindburg, Emma and Allyson Anderson and Ashley and Olivia Bowden.
Aletha was preceded in death by her parents , her husband and a son Terry Paul Schaefer and a sister Ruth Evelyn Keiken.
Friends may call Friday from 5:00 -8:00 PM at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home, Boardman-Canfield Chapel an on Saturday from 10:00 -10:45 AM at the church.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mark Lutheran Church Altar Guild.
