NORTH JACKSON ? Alfred ?Gus? J. Hall Jr., of Springboro, Pa., formerly of North Jackson, passed away Friday, Oct. 8, 2010, at Edinboro Manor in Edinboro, Pa.
Alfred was born in Aitch, Pa., on Jan. 16, 1937, a son of the late Alfred J. and Ruth Ripple Hall Sr.
Gus retired in 2000, from WCI in Warren after 42 years of service.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. Gus was a talented horse trainer. He was talented in breaking horses to drive wagons and carts of all sizes, as well as constructing the wagons and carts. Gus enjoyed showing miniature horses at The Canfield Fair for 15 years.
He was a member of the American Miniature Horse Association, the American Miniature Donkey Association, a former member of the Mahoning Valley Pony Breeders Association, a member of Pioneer Steam and Gas Engine Society of Saegertown, Pa., and a charter member of the Ellsworth Historical Society.
Gus is survived by his daughter, Tina Marie Hall of North Jackson; his close companion of 10 years, Daisy Mook of Springboro; four sisters, Juliann Holland of Huntington, Pa., Catherine Reed and her husband, Jack of Homer City, Pa., Audrey Edwards of North Jackson and Bertha Baker of Girard; a brother, Dexter Hall and his wife, Vickie of Lawrence, Ind.; several nieces, nephews and extended family members; and his beloved dog, Poochie.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 39 years, the former Janet I. Roessler, whom he married Feb. 15, 1960. She passed away Jan. 8, 2000. He was also preceded in death by three brothers, Danny, Clester and Lester Hall; and a sister, Eleanor Ruby.
Friends and family may call Wednesday from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home, North Jackson Chapel, 439 S. Salem-Warren Road. Route 45.
Burial will be in North Jackson Cemetery immediately following calling hours.
