POLAND - A funeral service will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the Poland United Methodist Church for Alice Ruehle, 100, who passed away Saturday morning at Hampton Woods Assisted Living.
Alice was born April 3, 1913, in Aliquippa, Pa., a daughter of the late John W. and Grace W. (Lent) Simpson.
Alice graduated high school and then went on to nursing school at Jamison Hospital, where she received her nursing degree. She was a RN at Northside Hospital for 30 years. She was a member of the Poland United Methodist Church and was an avid card player.
Her husband, Lester D. Ruehle, whom she married Oct. 24 1939, passed away Aug. 31, 1999.
Alice is survived by her son, David (Janet) Ruehle of Poland; five grandchildren, Tamara (Dale) Jablonski, Heather (David) Forer, Alexis Martin Ruehle (Arjen Valkenburg), Andrea Ruehle, and Michael Ruehle; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Alice was also preceded in death by a son, Richard Ruehle.
Family and friends may call on Tuesday from 10 to 10:45 a.m. at the church.
Material tributes may take the form of donations to Crossroads Hospice.
Arrangements are being handled by the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Poland Chapel.
