CANFIELD - A memorial service will be held at a later date to be announced for Alice Lee Schreiber, 86, who died Monday evening at St. Elizabeth Boardman Health Center.
Alice was born June 8, 1927, in Lawrenceburg, Ind., the daughter of Claude P. and H. Fern (Gehring) Sartin.
Alice, who was a registered nurse, was a graduate of Christ Hospital School of Nursing in Cincinnati and later earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from Youngstown State University. She was a long-time member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Cornersburg and a volunteer at Protestant Family Services. She was also a long-time volunteer with the Mahoning Valley chapter of the American Red Cross and with Hospice of the Valley.
Her husband, Dr. Jack Schreiber, whom she married June 5, 1954, died March 2, 1997.
She is survived by a daughter, Meredyth (Jim) Pfeifer of Janesville, Wis.; three sons, Dr. Mark D. Schreiber of Boynton Beach, Fla., Jeffrey R. (Leslie) Schreiber of Salem and Jonathan C. Schreiber of Canfield; five grandchildren, Jason Humphrey and Tiffany, Melanie, Alister and Grace Schreiber; two step grandchildren, Hannah and Lauren Louk of Leetonia; and a sister, Nancy Crosby and a brother, Larry Sartin, both of Indiana.
Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Martha Bihr; and three brothers, William, Paul and Ted Sartin.
The family has requested that material tributes take the form of donations to the Zion Lutheran Church in Alice's memory.
