YOUNGSTOWN - Alveretta Ann "Alvie" Cerofolini Bednar, 84, passed away Sunday morning, Aug. 27, 2017, at St. Elizabeth Health Center.
Alvie was born on Dec. 23, 1932, in New Castle, Pa., to Maria (Bindi) Cerofolini and Angelo Cerofolini, and had lived in Canfield for the last 45 years.
She graduated from Shenango High School in 1950, and worked for McBride-Shannon Insurance Company before her marriage.
She leaves behind to hold onto her precious memories, her beloved husband of 50 years, Joseph, whom she married on Aug. 26, 1967; her daughter, Christine and son-in-law Anthony Gioia of Carmel, Ind.; her two grandsons, Zachary and Connor Gioia, who were the light of her life; and her sister-in-law, Mary Bednar of Canfield.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
She was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church, Green Leaves Garden Club, Canfield AARP No. 3104, and the Fun and Fitness Exercise Club. Alvie enjoyed gardening, cooking, baking and spending time with her family and friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Michael Catholic Church in Canfield at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 2, 2017.
The family will be receiving friends for calling hours at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Boardman-Canfield Chapel on Friday, Sept. 1, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. and on Saturday from 9 to 9:45 a.m. at the church.
She will be laid to rest at Calvary Cemetery in Youngstown.
