Boardman - Funeral services will be at 9:30 AM Friday at Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home Poland Chapel and at 10 AM at Holy Family Church for Alvin A. Miller Sr., age 85, who passed away Tuesday morning at his home.
Alvin was born November 19, 1921 in Chicago, Ill. a son of Albert B. and Olga Krueger Miller. He came to the Youngstown area in 1980.
Alvin served in the Army Air Corps during WWII. He was employed by Continental Insurance Company as an underwriter for 40 years, retiring in 1980. He attended Holy Family Church and was a member of their Holy Family Senior. He was also a member of St. Charles over 50's, the Union #2162 Social Club, and the V.F.W. #3538 in Struthers.
Alvin leaves his wife the former Ida E. Santelli whom he married December 13, 1947; a son Alvin A. Mary Ann Miller Jr. of Canfield; and four grandchildren Keith and David Miller and Andrea and Chad Calgano.
Alvin is preceded in death by his parents and a sister Caroline Sonn.
Family and friends may call Thursday from 5 to 8 PM at the funeral home.
Alvin's family request that material tributes take the form of donations to Holy Family Church 2729 Center Rd., Poland, Ohio 44514.
