March 29, 1936 — April 5, 2025

Boardman, OH

BOARDMAN - Amelia Ann Douglass, 89, peacefully departed this world on April 5, 2025, at Briarfield Place, surrounded by her loved ones. Born on March 29, 1936, in Youngstown, Ohio, she graced the world with her warmth and caring spirit.

Amelia was a devoted homemaker, pouring her heart into raising her one daughter Diane Douglass and four sons: Andrew (Susan) Douglass of Pulaski, NY, Michael (Laurie) Douglass of Charlottesville, VA, Mark (Leanne) Douglass of Struthers, OH, and Charles (Kathy) Douglass of Cheyenne, WY. Her life was enriched by the laughter and love of her thirteen grandchildren—Evan, Stewart, Alana, Angela, Patrick, Celia, Ian, Kenzie, Kelle, Mark Jr., Nicole, Devin, and Mitchell—as well as her eighteen great-grandchildren, who brought her endless joy and pride. Also left to cherish her memory are her brother-in-law Richard (Nancy) Douglass, sister-in-law Ellen Matiscik and Margaret Micco, her best friend of over 80 years.

Amelia graduated from Ursuline High School in 1954. After dedicating many years to her family, Amelia took her talents into the workforce, where she began working at K-Mart, retiring after fifteen fulfilling years. She volunteered at St. Michael's bereavement luncheons, offered her creative hands to crochet baby blankets for infants at St. Joseph’s Hospital, a eucharist minister at St. Charles Church and supported the important work of the American Cancer Society.

Amelia married the love of her life, Andrew Douglass, on October 15, 1955, a union that served as the foundation of her life’s happiness. Together, they traveled extensively, creating cherished memories that would last a lifetime.

Amelia now joins her loved ones who have crossed before her. She was preceded in death by her parents, Francis George Matiscik and Amelia Louise Matiscik (Repasky), her husband Andrew Douglass, her brother Francis Matiscik, and her daughter Diane Douglass.

A visitation honoring Amelia's life will be held on April 11, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 10:45 AM at St. Charles Borromeo Roman Catholic Parish, located at 7345 Westview Dr., Boardman, Ohio. A Mass of Christian burial will follow at 11:00 AM, allowing those who knew and loved her to come together in remembrance and celebration of her life.
