NEW MIDDLETOWN ? Services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home, Poland Chapel for Andrew ?Andy? William Blasko, 86, who went to be with the Lord on Nov. 4, 2009, surrounded by his loved ones.
Andrew was born Jan. 23, 1923 to John and Anna Dernyar Blasko in Youngstown.
Andrew was a man of faith who loved his family dearly.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Elizabeth Betty Cownden Blasko, who went to be with the Lord on Aug. 1, 2004.
He leaves his sons, Andrew John Blasko and Joseph Steven Blasko Carolyn of New Middletown; and daughter, Sandra Blasko Moats Dale of Melbourne, Fla.; as well as eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren on the way.
He leaves his brother, Michael Blasko of New Middletown and was preceded in death by his sister, Mary Metzinger and brother John Blasko. Also leaving behind his wonderful nieces and nephew, whom he so dearly loved and their families.
Andrew was a World War II veteran, who served in the Navy on the U.S.S. Randolph. He was a carpenter for 25 years in the carpenter?s union in Youngstown. He retired as the H.U.D. Inspector, with the Federal Government for the Cleveland, Canton, Akron and Youngstown area and he was a 32nd Degree Mason.
He will be missed, loved and cherished as he is laid to rest beside his loving wife at the Zion Cemetery in New Middletown.
Friends may call Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. and Saturday morning from 10 to 10:45 a.m. at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home, Poland Chapel.
The family has requested that material tributes take the form of donations to the Springfield Township Emergency Medical Technicians in Andrew?s Memory.
