Youngstown .. . . . . .Mr. Andrew Hudoba, age 93, died Sunday evening at Omni West Assisted Living.
He was born in Youngstown on May 22, 1919, the son of Anthony and Mary Prociak Hudoba.
After graduating from Struthers High School, he worked as a store clerk for the Thom McAnn Shoe Company in downtown Youngstown before entering the armed services in February 1942. He served overseas in the Philippines and Australia until the end of the war.
Mr. Hudoba was self employed as owner and operator of several businesses including the Automatic Sales Company which later became Andrews Vending.
A talented and avid golfer and bowler, Andy was an outstanding performer in many of the top Youngstown area leagues and American Bowling Congress competitions. He was Mahoning Valley match game titleist four times and in all told, 13 other singles crowns. Andy won a spot on the United States men's team in the 1963 Mexico City World Bowling Championships. In 1973 he was inducted into the Youngstown Bowling Association Hall of Fame. The following year he was named to the Curbstone Coaches Hall of Fame.
Married to wife Stella Sitnik Hudoba in October 1941 who died August of 2011.
Preceded in death by sister Margaret Metcalf and brothers Carl, John and Michael.
Leaves sons Dr. Russell Marilyn Hudoba of Poland and Ronald Roseann Hudoba of Farmersville, La, and daughter Jaclyn Palowitz of Bonita Springs, Fla; seven grandchildren, Douglas Jamie and Michael Hudoba, Rhonda Joe Booth, Renee Kyle Lopez and Rachel Fernando Carbajal, and Lauren and Adrienne Palowitz; and seven great grandchildren.
