POLAND - A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday at 10 a.m. at the Holy Family Church for Angelina "Angie" Salamida Ciavarella, 83, who passed away Friday morning.
Angie was born May 14, 1930, in Endicott, N.Y., a daughter of the late Peter and Elwyn (Contento) Salamida.
Angie worked for Woolco Department Store from 1973 to 1983. She enjoyed bowling, luncheons with her Woolco coworkers, making Ukranian Easter Eggs, crocheting, decorating for all holidays, watching football and other sports, and especially her pet cats.
She was a member of the Holy Family Catholic Church, the Poland K-Cettes and the Friends of the Poland Library. She was also and avid reader.
Angie enjoyed vacations and traveling with her husband, especially cruises with friends and Florida with family. She always stayed in touch with her friends and family from Endicott after she relocated to Youngstown after she married.
Angie is survived by her husband of 63 years, Michael A. Ciavarella Sr., whom she married April 22, 1950; a son, Michael A. (Crystal and son Tim) Ciavarella Jr. of Austintown; a daughter, Carla (Ken) Ciavarella Sukosd of Columbiana; four grandchildren, Nathan Ciavarella, David Ciavarella, Nicholas (Deidre) Sukosd and Olivia Sukosd; a great-grandson, Kaiden Sukosd; two sisters-in-law, Pauline Ciavarella and Gloria Salamida; and many nieces and nephews.
Angie was also preceded in death by a brother, Dominic Salamida; a sister, Martha Ciavarella; and three brothers-in-law and sister-in-law Joseph, Louis and Frank (Cathy) Ciavarella.
Family and friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Poland Chapel.
