CANFIELD - A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday at 10 a.m. at St. Michael Church in Canfield for Angeline DiMichaelangelo, 103, who died peacefully Thursday at home surrounded by her family.
Angeline was born Aug. 10, 1910, in Montorario al Volmano in Abruzzi, Italy, to Giovanni and Rosina (Michelangelo) DiGuiseppi, and came to this area in 1913.
She was the owner of El Rancho Restaurant and then Michaelangelo's Restaurant on Mahoning Avenue.
Angelina was a member of St. Michael Church and the ITAM Club. She was Woman of the Year at the Youngstown Italian Fest and enjoyed knitting, crocheting and cooking.
Her husband, Lauro, whom she married in August of 1927, died Nov. 30, 1965.
Angeline is survived by her daughter, Shirley Michaels of Prescott, Ariz.; a son, Dr. Dante (Patricia) DeAngelo, with whom she made her home; a sister, Gilda Zavodni of New Middletown; 13 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death her daughter, Judy DiMichaelangelo; two sons, Anthony and John DiMichaelangelo; and two grandchildren, Milena DiMichaelangelo and Holly Nelson.
Family and friends may call Tuesday from 9 to 9:45 a.m. at the church.
The family has requested that material tributes take the form of donations to Hospice of the Valley, 5190 Market St., Youngstown, OH 44512; St. Michael Church, 350 N. Broad St., Canfield, OH 44406; or to a charity of the donor's choice.
