Angelo Anthony Rossi, 86
POLAND Services will begin Monday morning at 9:30 a.m. at the
Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home, Poland Chapel, followed by a Mass of Christian
Burial celebrated at 10 a.m. at the Holy Family Church, for Angelo
Anthony Rossi, 86, who passed away Thursday at the Hospice House.
Angelo was born Sept. 4, 1921 in Campbell, the son of Patsy and Lucy Cutrone
Rossi.
After graduating from Campbell Memorial High School in 1940, he served in
the U.S. Marine Corps during WWII. He served in the Pacific Theatre in Iwo
Jima and Bougainvillea and was awarded two Purple Hearts. He then worked as
a machinist at the Youngstown Sheet and Tube Corporation for more than 40
years before retiring in 1980.
He was a member of the Holy Family Church and a 3rd degree member of the
Poland Knights of Columbus Council No. 4471. He was also a member of the
Campbell VFW Post No. 560, the Campbell Italian American War Veterans and
the disabled American Veterans.
Angelo is remembered by his family as a true family man who enjoyed
photography, carpentry, gardening, making homemade pasta and baking
pitzells. He especially enjoyed the tradition of celebrating St. Joseph's
Day and cheering on his Pittsburgh Steelers.
He is survived by his wife, the former Margaret Yuhas, whom he married Aug.
9, 1947; his seven children, Mark Victoria Rossi of Canfield, Patrick
Carolyn Rossi of Mineral Ridge, Frank Vanessa Rossi of Poland, Anthony
Leeann Rossi of Boardman, Maureen Culver Rossi of Poland, Joseph Susan
Rossi of Salem and Angela Kurt McTigue of Poland; three sisters, Lucy
"Pat" Masi of Campbell, Mary Lucido of Youngstown and Rose Albert Michael
Teutsch of Campbell; 16 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Henry and Frank
Rossi.
Friends may call from 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
The family has requested that material tributes take the form of donations
to either the Hospice House or American Legion Post No. 560 in Angelo's
memory.
