LYNDHURST - Prayers will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, March 6, at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Boardman-Canfield Chapel followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at St. Christine Church for Ann M. Butler, 93, who passed away Friday afternoon.
Ann was born July 2, 1918, in Youngstown, the oldest child of the late John and Anna Toth Vass.
Ann was a 1936 graduate of East High School. She received her nursing degree from the Youngstown Hospital Association in 1940. She retired in 1983, after 25 years as an occupational health nurse at the Youngstown Sheet and Tube, Brier Hill Works. At St. Christine's, she was a member of the Infant Jesus of Prague Society, Altar and Rosary and Renew. She was also a member of the Western Reserve Knitting Society, TOPS, Youngstown Council of Catholic Nurses, Youngstown Hospital Nurse's Alumni Association and the Youngstown Photography Club. Her pets and her gardening were special to her.
Her husband, James R. Butler, whom she married Feb. 10, 1943, passed away June 24, 1977.
Ann leaves her three children, James R. Sandi Butler of Brunswick, Pat Tony Germano of South Euclid and Peg Matt Mazur of Cambridge; sister Vilma Stanley deceased Geewax; brother-in-law Raymond F. Butler Eleanore Vass deceased; sister-in-law Mary Vass John deceased; seven grandchildren, Jason Jen Butler, Lauren Doug Braford, Claire Dean Vitullo, Adam Mazur, Meghan Josh Sailer, Meredith Darren Wilson and Tyler Mazur; eight great-grandchildren; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
Family and friends may call on Monday from 5 to 8 p.m. and on Tuesday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home.
