Ann Davern, 79
STRUTHERS Prayer services will be held Saturday at 9:30 a.m. at the
Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home, Poland Chapel and a Mass of Christian Burial
at 10 a.m. at the Holy Family Church for Ann Davern, 79, who passed away
Tuesday evening at St. Elizabeth Hospital.
Ann was born March 14, 1929 in Ashtabula, the daughter of Herbert and
Winifred Parker Harmon.
Ann attended Ashtabula City Schools, graduating from Ashtabula High School
in 1947. She furthered her education at Elyria Memorial School of Nursing.
Ann spent most of her life working in the medical profession with various
area doctors and retired in 1993 after 18 years in the offices of Associates
in Surgery on Youngstown¹s northside.
Ann was a member of both the Polio and Arthritis foundations and a former 30
year member of St. Edward¹s Church serving as a Kindergarten teacher¹s aide
at St. Edward¹s School plus a member of the church choir and Christian
mothers club. The Daverns are currently members of the Holy Family Church in
Poland. Ann was an avid gardener and loved birds and pets.
Married on Nov. 25, 1950, Ann leaves her husband, Kenneth C. Davern; four
children, Karen Randy Brown of Cortland, Elizabeth Rick Ortz of Liberty,
Gregory Jacquelyn Davern of Struthers, and Mary Kay Brian Vivo of
Hackettstown, N.J.; six grandchildren, Sean Jennie Ortz, Lindsay Kyle
Thomas, Gregory D. Davern, Mary Jo Moore, and Nicholas and Kevin Vivo; four
great grandchildren, Isabella, Ricky, Peyton, and Chase; two cousins,
Patricia A. Parker of Cleveland and David Ross of Texas; two half sisters,
Patricia Harmon Whelan and Mary Ann Harmon Summers of California; a
nephew, Richard D. Harmon; and two nieces, Cynthia Harmon Moroni and April
Harmon Hawkins, all reside in California.
Ann was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Richard S. Harmon; and
a granddaughter, Victoria Vivo.
Calling hours will be held today from 4 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
