YOUNGSTOWN - Services will be Tuesday at 10:30 AM at St. Edward Church for Anna J. "Joyce" DePaul age 78 of Youngstown who passed away Friday evening at her home.
Joyce was born April 10, 1928, in Youngstown, the daughter of Patrick J. and Alice C. Morton Barrett.
After graduating from Ursuline High School in 1948 she had worked as an operator for Answer Phone. Joyce later became the supervisor of communications at St. Elizabeth Hospital where she worked for over 20 years before retiring. She was a member of St. Edward Church and was the secretary of its health ministry. She was also a founding member of the Lupus Support Group at St. Elizabeth Hospital.
She is survived by her husband Phillip A. DePaul whom she married July 14, 1951, two daughters, Alice A. Jeff Smith of Broadview Heights, Oh, and Mary Jo Dolson of Berea, Oh, three sons, Louis Carolyn DePaul of Columbus, Indiana, Donald Lori DePaul of Columbus, Oh, and Phillip P. Karen DePaul Chicago, Ill., seven grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
Besides her parents she was preceded in death by three brothers, Donald P. Barrett who died as a POW in Japan during W.W.II, Maurice M., and John E. Barrett, and two sisters, Mary Margaret O'Donnell, and her twin Sarah J. "Jean" Papania.
Friends may call from 4 PM to 8 PM Monday at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home, Boardman-Canfield Chapel, and from 9:30 AM to 10:15 AM Tuesday morning at St. Edward Church.
The family has requested that material tributes take the form of donations to the Lupus Foundation.
