YOUNGSTOWN There will be funeral services at 10 a.m. at St. John Lutheran
Church, in Youngstown, for Anna "Honey" Zapka, 80, who passed away Tuesday
morning in Cleveland. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved
her.
Anna was born Jan. 1, 1925 in Youngstown, a daughter of Andrew and Augustina
Sedilek Potkonicky.
During WWII, she was employed as a welder at Youngstown Steel Door. She was
a dedicated mother and grandmother who enjoyed cooking and entertaining her
family, especially during the holidays.
Her husband, Steve Zapka, whom she married Feb. 23, 1949 passed away Dec.
23, 1976.
She leaves three sons, Ronald Catherine Zapka of Warren, Dennis Leslie
Zapka of Strongsville and Gerald Claudia Zapka of Mathews, N.C.; a
brother, Steve Potkonicky of Youngstown; three grandchildren, Jason Zapka of
Austintown, Stephanie Zapka of Youngstown and Brianne Zapka of Mathews.
Anna was preceded in death by her parents and sisters, Rose Polojack and
Mary Ragan; and her brother, Andrew Potkonicky.
Family and friends may call Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Higgins-Reardon
Funeral Home, Austintown Chapel, and from 9:30 to 10 a.m. Saturday at the
church.
Burial will be at Tod Homestead Cemetery.
