YOUNGSTOWN - Prayers will be held Friday at 10:15 a.m. at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home, Austintown Chapel followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at St. Michael Church, Canfield for Anne Marie Evans, 80, who died Sunday evening, Aug. 7, 2011.
Anne Marie was born May 16, 1931, in Youngstown, a daughter of the late Stephen and Ann Hura Vidis and was a lifelong area resident.
Anne was executive secretary at West Side Merchants during the 50s. She then became a substitute and CCD teacher for Holy Name in the 60s and 70s. She was also a homemaker who dedicated her life to raising and caring for her family. Anne Marie was a member of St. Michael Church, Canfield. She was an avid New York Yankees fan and loved collecting penguins.
Her husband, Burton Eugene Evans, whom she married Oct. 11, 1952, died April 25, 1987.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her son, Thomas E. Marisa Evans of Savage, Minn.; her daughter, Linda A Evans of Boardman and her daughter, Sally A John Turek of Canfield; four grandchildren, Jason Erin Evans, Renee Evans, Courtney Tanner Larson and Kayla Turek; and two great-grandchildren, Parker and Malia.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Donald E. Evans and her brother, Thomas Vidis.
Friends may call on Friday from 9 to 10:15 a.m. at the funeral home.
