Anne Ondrusko

POLAND ? Prayers will be held Thursday at 9:30 a.m. at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home, Poland Chapel followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at the Holy Family Church for Anne D. Ondrusko, 96, who passed away Monday morning at Maplecrest Nursing Home.

Anne was born Oct. 21, 1913, in Youngstown, the daughter of Steve and Barbara Simonovich Zordich.

Anne was a homemaker who always wore a smile. She loved to babysit and entertain children. She was a member of the Holy Family Church. Anne was an avid reader and bingo player, who enjoyed trips to the opera, as well as gambling trips to Las Vegas and Atlantic City. She was a loving, caring person, and always very generous to those in need.

She deeply loved her husband of 70 years, John Ondrusko Jr., whom she married May 23, 1936. He passed away April 14, 2006.

Anne leaves two sisters-in-law, Elizabeth Zordich and Anne Zordich; a niece and goddaughter, Susan Zordich; a nephew, Steven Kathy Zordich; two special nieces, Monica Ondrusko and Genny Bill Sikora; as well as numerous other nieces and nephews; and her special neighbor, Walter Diane Soles, who was like a son to her.

Besides her parents and husband, Anne was preceded in death by her sister; Barbara Holm and her four brothers, Nicholas, John, George and Alex Zordich.

Family and friends may call Thursday from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. at the funeral home.

The family especially thanks the staff at Maplecrest Nursing Home for their loving care and kindness provided to Anne.

Material tributes may take the form of donations to The Alzheimer?s Association.
