POLAND - Services will be Wednesday at 10:30 AM at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home Poland Chapel and at 11:00 AM at Holy Family Church for Anthony "Tony" Ameduri age 87 of Poland who passed away Sunday afternoon at his home.
Tony was born August 20, 1918, in Youngstown, the son of Anthony and Marie Altiere Ameduri.
He was a 1936 graduate of South High School and attended Youngstown College. He began his career as a credit manager with Mahoning Valley Supply Corp., and later worked as a credit manager for the Vindicator, retiring in 1986. Mr. Ameduri also worked as an instructor for many years at Youngstown University teaching Credit and Financial Management. In 1955 he was recognized for his professionalism by being awarded the Executive Award from Dartmouth College, and was later named in the 12 th edition of Who's Who in the Midwest.
He honorably served his country during W.W.II, serving in the Army's 37th Infantry in the Pacific Theater. He was awarded two bronze stars for his meritorious service. He and his wife were a charter members of Holy Family Church. Tony was also a member of the Poland Knights of Columbus Council, and a charter member and past president of the Southside Lions Club. He was also the past director of the National Association of Credit Managers, past president of the Youngstown Association of Credit Management, and past president of Sigma Kappa Phi Accounting Fraternity.
He is survived by his wife the former Frances M. Valle whom he married December 2, 1944, his son Gene and his wife Kathie Ameduri of Poland, a brother Dr. Robert Ameduri, Ph.D. and his wife Judy, of Scottsdale, AZ, two grandchildren, Scott Ameduri of Scottsdale, and Dr. Rebecca Amaduri, MD, and her husband Dr. Sam Gupta, MD, Cleveland, and a sister in law Mary Ameduri of Corona, CA.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by three sisters, and five brothers.
Friends may call from 5 PM to 7 PM Tuesday and from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM Wednesday morning at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home, Poland Chapel.
