Anthony M. Andio, 82
BOARDMAN - A Funeral Mass will be Monday at 10 a.m. at St. Charles Church
for Anthony M. Andio, 82, who passed away Thursday evening at the Hospice
House.
Tony was born Feb. 4, 1925 in Youngstown, the son of James and Mary Serluco
Andio.
He was a 1943 graduate of Boardman High School, where he was a standout on
the basketball team and was later inducted into the Hall of Fame. He became
the owner operator of Jim Andio & Sons Excavating Contractors for most of
his life. He also worked as a heavy equipment operator for Davis
International, from where he later retired in 1990.
He was a WWII U.S. Army veteran. He was a member of St. Charles Church and
St. Jude Church in Columbiana. He was a 45-year member of the Youngstown
Wolves Club Den VI, where he had served as president in 1979.
Anthony was an avid Stock Car enthusiast who owned and raced his own car.
He is survived by his wife, the former Theresa Fossaceca, whom he married
June 7, 1947; four daughters, Marilou John Bertelli of Boardman, Toni
Joe Speziale of Boardman, Michele Robert Kielbas of Chicago and Jennifer
Tim Frank of North Lima; two sisters, Roseanne Charles Rushen of
Boardman and Peggy Jim Kennedy of Florida; eight grandchildren, Kristen
Rick Fraley, Heidi and Gina Bertelli, Tracie, Sarah, and Joey Speziale,
and Cole and Cade Frank; and two great-grandchildren, Carson and Carley
Fraley.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Ralph Andio.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home,
Boardman-Canfield Chapel, and Monday from 9 to 9:45 a.m. at St. Charles
Church.
The family has requested that material tributes take the form of donations
to either the Hospice House Sharrot Road, Poland, OH 44514 or Angels for
Animals, 4750 S.R. 165, Canfield, OH 44460 in Tony's memory.
