AUSTINTOWN.... Services will be Thursday at 9:30 a.m. at the Higgins-Reardon
Funeral Home, Austintown Chapel and at 10 a.m. at the Immaculate Heart of
Mary Church for Anthony F. Blank, 82, who passed away Sunday morning at St.
Elizabeth Health Center.
Anthony was born Nov. 2, 1922 in Youngstown, the son of Valentine and Elsie
Heckinger Blank.
He had worked for the Mahoning County Engineers Traffic department for more
than 20 years before retiring. He was a member of the Immaculate Heart of
Mary Church, a volunteer fireman in Austintown, had served as treasurer of
the Austintown Fireman's Club and had chaired its annual Lawn Fete for many
years. Anthony was a WWII U.S. Navy veteran, where he had served in the
Pacific and Atlantic theaters.
He is survived by his wife, the former Ruth G. Shulay, whom he married Aug.
21, 1948; two daughters, Judith and husband Edward Booth of Clarksville,
Ga., and Debbie D. and husband Keith S. Nash of Massillon; a sister, Kathryn
Pachell of Youngstown; a brother, Raymond and wife Irma Blank of Struthers;
and two grandchildren, Edward and Stacy Booth.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Dolores Howe and Henrietta Wiley;
and four brothers, Daniel, Conrad, Edwin, and Robert Blank.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
