YOUNGSTOWN - Prayers will begin Monday at 10:15 a.m. at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home, Austintown Chapel followed by a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 11 a.m. at St. Anthony Church for Anthony DeLuca, 77, who died Wednesday at his home.
Anthony was born July 31, 1933, in Youngstown, the son of Anthony and Theresa D'Alitto DeLuca.
He was a 1951 graduate of The Rayen School and attended Youngstown State University. Anthony was also a veteran, having served in the military police of the U.S. Air Force. He worked as a car inspector for Conrail Railroad before being appointed a patrolman of the Youngstown Police Department on July 1, 1963. He was appointed Detective/Sergeant on Sept. 13, 1977, and later retired on June 27, 1989.
Mr. DeLuca was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police and St. Anthony Church in Youngstown.
Anthony is survived by the love of his life, Joyce Siersdorfer; his three sisters, Stella Bernard of Liberty, Mary Eugene Potesta of Youngstown and Connie Richard Pachell of Austintown; his sisters-in-law, Irma DeLuca and Geri DeLuca of Youngstown; his brother, Fred Betty DeLuca Sr. of Liberty; brother-in-law Anthony Cocca; and his many nieces and nephews, Rosemary and Dominic Zockle, Anthony and Donna DeLuca, William DeLuca, Fred Jr. and Virginia DeLuca, Dr. Eugene and Tricia Potesta, Mark and Marcee Potesta, Theresa and William Irwin, Frank and Paula DeLuca, Maria and Larry Barca, Anthony and Kelly Cocca, Teresa and Scott Kay, Theresa and Glenn Carroll, Rick Pachell, Nicholas and Toni Pachell, Theresa DeRobbio and Rose DeLuca.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Yolanda DeLuca Cocca; two brothers, Louis and Frank DeLuca; and a nephew, Anthony L. DeLuca.
