CANFIELD Funeral services will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. at St. Maron Church for Anthony J. Garono Jr., 68, who passed away Monday morning at St. Elizabeth Health Center after a lengthy illness.
Anthony was born Feb. 15, 1940 in Hubbard, the son of Anthony J. Sr. and Eleanor Clacko Garono.
He was the owner/operator of Garono Florist from 1961 to 1987. He had began a career in catering in 1961 and later became the president and co-owner of ³Mr. Anthony¹s² where he served in that position until his retirement in 1991. He had served on the Hubbard Board of Education from 1967 to 1970. He was a member of the Mahoning County and Austintown Democratic Clubs and
was a former Canfield Precinct Committeeman. He was a member of St. Maron¹s Church and its K of C Council, and was a member of the Msgr Klute K of C 4th
Degree Assembly. He was active in the Men¹s Renewal at St. Christine. ³Tony² also had been
active with the booster clubs at St. Christine and Canfield High School and was a member of the Guisepp Verdi Lodge No. 858.
He will always be remembered by his family as a loving husband, father and grandfather.
He is survived by his wife, the former Betty Ann Saadey; three daughters, Jennifer Brian See of Canfield, Elizabeth Atty. Nicholas Bourne of Canfield and Linda Richard Seaman of Canfield; three sons, David Jonna Garono of Lake Monticello, Va., Anthony J. Renee Garono III of Liberty and
Steven Garono of Atlanta, Ga.; 11 grandchildren, Ryane Garono and Max Bourne of Canfield, Michael and Olivia See of Canfield, Andrew and Daniel Seaman of
Canfield, and Angelo, Anthony and Sophia Garono of Virginia, and Anthony J. IV and Theresa Garono of Liberty; and three brothers, Ralph Judy Garono of
Akron and William and Lawrence Garono of Hubbard.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Henry; in-laws, Anton and Minerva Saadey, Russell Saadey, Joe Saadey, Don and Maria Dempsey, John
Vitullo, Atty. John Jakubek and Hazel Garono; and nephews, Michael Saadey and George ³Chipper² Saadey.
The family would like to thank the staff of Beeghley Oaks for their compassionate care during Tony¹s stay.
Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home, Boardman-Canfield Chapel, where a service of incense will be held at 7:30 p.m.
