POLAND - Prayers will begin Tuesday afternoon at 12:30 p.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial Celebrated at 1 p.m. at the Holy Family Church for a beloved husband, father, and grandfather, Anthony Deleo Lucente, 76, who passed away on May 23, 2013.
A first generation Italian, he was born on Feb. 2, 1937, in Youngstown. He grew up on the south side, where he attended South High School, graduating in 1956.
Anthony married his dear wife, Giovina, a native of Sulmona, Italy, and they moved to Poland after their marriage on Sept. 24, 1966.
He was employed at WYTV as a broadcast technician for over 38 years until his retirement. Anthony enjoyed being behind a camera and working with his hands, especially in his tool shop, where he could repair nearly anything.
He was a kind, patient, and generous man, who did what he could to help out his friends, neighbors, and strangers alike, often with the refrain, "We are all brothers and sisters in this world." He was a man of faith who always saw the good in people. He and his family have been members of the Holy Family Parish for over 35 years.
He is survived by his devoted spouse, Giovina Malvestuto Lucente; five adult children, Diana Lucente, David Lucente (spouse Jessica Lucente), Patricia Lucente, Maria Lucente, and Tina Lucente Carter (spouse John Carter); along with three grandchildren, Zoe, Charles, and Alex. He has one surviving cousin, Eleseo Lucente; and many nieces and nephews.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Poland Chapel.
