Anthony Volpini

POLAND - Prayers will begin Tuesday at 11:15 a.m. at the HIggins-Reardon Funeral Home, Poland Chapel, followed by a celebratory Mass of Christian Burial at 1 p.m. at St. Charles Church for Anthony L. "TV" Volpini, 86, who died Wednesday at the Hospice House.

Anthony was born Dec.14, 1925, in Ascoli Piceno Marche, Italy. He immigrated to United States with his mother when he was three years old. They joined his father who had settled in Youngstown.

He was a graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School and attended Youngstown University for three years. Tony served as an Electrician Mate 3rd Class in the U.S. Navy during World War II and was also a member of the Navy Band. He was very proud of his service to his country.
Anthony was a member of Staff Sergeant Arthur W. McGuinness VFW Post No. 8841, where he served as Post Commander as well as many other roles. He was Council Commander of the Mahoning County Council of the VFW and served as a delegate to VFW National and State conventions. He was also a member of the Military Order of Cooties Post Pup Tent No. 31 Vinkimmelbrook, and Council Commander of the United Veterans Council. Anthony was a dedicated member and advocate to these councils and donated his time and skills as a contractor to build three VFW Posts: VFW 2799 in New Springfield, VFW Post 419 in Girard and VFW Post 8841 in Youngstown.
In the 1950s through the 1960s, he owned the Petersburg Inn and the Sierra Lounge in Poland. Anthony was also a residential building contractor for the past 50 years.
He was a former member of the ITAM Club, the Latin Culture Club, the University Club and the Marchigiani Club.

Mr. Volpini is survived by his wife, the former Eileen D'Alesandro; a daughter, Seralynn Ted Lewis of Roanoke, Va.; a son, Richard Marisa Volpini of Canfield; five grandchildren, Grazia Gian Carlo Ochoa, Paula Lee Rankin, Ailene Sorice, Anthony Danielle Volpini and Laura Shannon Polk Volpini; and 10 great-grandchildren, Alessandro and Carolina Ochoa, Noah, Luke and Marisa Rankin, Bella, Hannah, Anthony and Nicholas Volpini and Cadyn Polk. He also leaves numerous cousins in Italy and Australia.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Albasio and Serafina Volpini.

Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home, Poland Chapel.
