NEW MIDDLETOWN - Funeral services will be held Friday at noon at St. Mark's Lutheran Church, with Pastor Peter Haentfling officiating for Arthur J. Bierdeman, 93, who died Tuesday morning at Masternick Memorial Nursing Home, surrounded by his family.
Arthur was born May 25, 1922, in Youngstown, to Edgar and Lydia (Code) Bierdeman.
He attended South High School and worked as a journeyman plumber for Local 396 for 31 years. Arthur was also vice president for Tri-State Plumbing and Heating and Bierdeman Supply Company until his retirement in 1987.
Arthur was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church for 69 years, and served as their financial secretary and a trustee. He also was in several bowling leagues at Boardman Lanes throughout the years.
Arthur is survived by his wife, the former Vivian Bergman, whom he married June 22, 1946; a daughter, Susan Antos of Hartville; son James (Chris) Bierdeman of Canfield; sister Marjorie Chill of Boardman; four grandchildren, Eric and David Antos and Matthew (Angie) and Jennifer Bierdeman; and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters; and five brothers.
Family and friends may call Friday from 11 a.m. until noon at the church.
Professional arrangements are being handled by the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Boardman-Canfield Chapel.
