BOARDMAN - Services will be Thursday morning at 10 a.m. at St. Maron Church for Bassil B. Estephan, 73, who died early Saturday morning at St. Elizabeth Health Center in Youngstown.
Bassil was born Dec. 2, 1936, in Ajdbra, Lebanon, the son of Boutros and Amira Roukos Estephan.
He had served in the Lebanese Military as part of its border patrol and later came to this country from Lebanon in 1988. He was a member of St. Maron Church and had worked as a roofer for the Simon Roofing Company until his retirement in 2006.
His wife, the former Amira B. Assahk, whom he married Aug. 6, 1961, died Jan. 20, 2005.
He is survived by two daughters, Nadia Joseph Faraj of Hubbard and Lena Edward Sargent of Salem; three sons, Pierre Wadad Estephan of Minnesota, Emile Anna Estephan of Tampa, Fla., and Hekmat Jean Estephan of Boardman; four sisters, Nadia Menhen of Lebanon, Jacqueline Antione El-Khoury of Austintown, Mansoura Roukos El-Khoury of Lebanon and Tonine Tony Reachi of Lebanon; three brothers, Stephan Estephan of Youngstown, Hamid Mary Khoury of Lebanon and Nasri Shafika Khoury of Lebanon; 12 grandchildren, Clayton, Carter and Maria Sargent, Elie and Anthony Mandy Faraj, and Charbel, Michael, Nicole, Maroun, Kyle, Karlina and Hannah Estephan; and two great-granddaughters, Ava and Lina Faraj.
The family has requested that material tributes take the form of donations to the St. Maron Education Fund.
Friends may call Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home, Boardman-Canfield Chapel and Thursday morning from 9 to 9:45 a.m. at St. Maron Church.
