NEW MIDDLETOWN - Private family services were held in both Youngstown and Cleveland for Benjamin James Watson Sr., 75, who died Sunday, March 24, 2019, surrounded by his family, at the Hospice House in North Lima.
Benjamin was born Jan. 29, 1944, in Cleveland, and came to the Youngstown area as a child. He was the son of the late Benjamin Joseph and Mercile (Boyer) Watson.
Benjamin was a machinist at Peerless-Winsmith Inc. in Warren for 23 years and was a member of the United Steel Workers, Local Union 1618-2 for 35 years.
Benjamin enjoyed spending time with his family, fishing, and had deep fondness and interest in Irish ancestry history and culture. He was of the Roman Catholic faith.
Benjamin is survived by his daughter, Shelly Ann Watson of New Middletown; and by his son, Benjamin J. Watson Jr. of Youngstown.
He was preceded in death on Oct. 1, 2014, by his wife, Carol E. (Bowser) Watson, whom he married Jan. 29, 1966.
According to his wishes, private family services and burial have taken place. Arrangements have been entrusted to Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Poland Chapel.
