Canfield - There will be services Saturday at 12:15 AM at Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home Boardman-Canfield Chapel and at 1PM at Holy Name of Jesus Church, for Bernard A. Berdis, age 92, formerly of Poland who passed away Wednesday afternoon at St. Elizabeth Health Center.
Bernard was born June 25, 1914, in Youngstown, a son of Stephen and Mary Berdis.
Bernard worked for US Steel as a foreman in the blast furnace for over 40 years, retiring in 1959. He was a member of the Poland Council of the Knights of Columbus, and a member of Holy Name of Jesus Church. He enjoyed golfing and fishing.
His wife the former Mary Pascarella whom he married in 1939, passed away in 1993.
He is survived by two daughters Bernadette "Bernie" Berdis and her fiance Ron Christy with whom he made his home with in Canfield and Beverly Rich Bezjak of Bluefield, West Virginia; four grandchildren Cinthia Christoff, Kenneth Christoff, Mark Bezjak, and Scott Bezjak; and seven great grandchildren.
Besides his parents and wife, Bernard is preceded in death by a sister and a brother.
Family and friends may call Friday from 7 to 9 PM and Saturday from 11 to Noon at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home, Boardman-Canfield Chapel.
