AUSTINTOWN - Prayers will begin Saturday at 9:30 AM at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home, Austintown Chapel followed by a Mass of Christian burial celebrated at 10:00 AM at St. Joseph Church for Mrs. Bernice E. Mayer age 83 who passed away Wednesday evening at Maplecrest Nursing Home.
Bernice was born February 9, 1925 in Louisville, Ohio, was a graduate of South High School, and later worked at the G.E. Lamp Plant in Youngstown. She was a homemaker, a member of St. Joseph Church and enjoyed crochet, ceramics, baking and shopping.
Her husband Leo W. Mayer whom she married February 7, 1947, died June 27, 1995. She is survived by a daughter Norma L. David Garchar of Struthers, two sons Leo W. Mayer of Austintown, and Dale E. Patty Mayer of Columbiana, a sister, Rita Cliff Luther of N. Carolina, a brother Russell Warner of Alliance, and nine grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a grand-daughter.
Friends may call from 4:00 PM to 7 :00 PM Friday at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home, Austintown Chapel.
The family has requested that material tributes take the form of donations to Hospice of the Valley in Bernice's memory.
