YOUNGSTOWN - Funeral services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at the Immanuel Lutheran Church, officiated by Pastor Kenneth Kelly, for Bette Jane Grischow, 84, who died Monday morning at Hospice House, surrounded by her family.
Bette was born June 4, 1932, in Youngstown, the daughter of Tom and Ruth (Nelson) McGinnis.
She was a 1950 graduate of The Rayen School and worked as a bookkeeper for J.N. Pincus Co. for 25 years until retiring.
Bette was a longtime member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church, the Ladies Aid, Senior Up Beats, Card Club, and Sunday school Bible class. She loved crocheting and crafts and was an excellent cook.
Bette is survived by her husband, Ernest W. Grischow, whom she married June 9, 1951; her daughter, Holly (James) Gifford of Youngstown; and two sisters, Karen Hopper of Naples, Fla. and Patricia Smith of Columbus.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and her grandparents, Walter and Minnie Nelson.
Family and friends may call Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Austintown Chapel, and Friday from 10 to 11 a.m. at church, prior to services.
The family has requested that material tributes take the form of donations to Hospice House, 9809 Sharrott Road, Poland, OH 44514.
