POLAND - Funeral services will be held on July 5, 2018, at noon at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Poland Chapel for Betty M. Mastell, 89, who passed away on Friday, at Hospice House in Poland.
Betty was born on March 24, 1929, in Canton, a daughter of the late, Eddie and Mary (Macri) Morena.
Betty was a 1947 graduate of Timken Vocational High School. She worked at JC Penny, supervising the JC Penny catalog for 20 years, retiring in 1986.
In her free time, she enjoyed golfing and playing cards, especially bridge with her friends. Betty’s most precious memories were spent with her family, whom she cherished.
Betty leaves behind her daughter, Melanie Banfield of Poland; four sons, Michael (Joan) Mastell of Cincinnati, Matthew “Dean” (Rosie) Mastell of Struthers, Mitchell (Terri) Mastell of East Liverpool, and Marty (Ronnie) Mastell of Tuttle, Okla.; 10 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband and best friend, Malcolm L. Mastell, whom she married on Sept. 11, 1948, and Malcolm died on May 7, 2018, after 69 years of loving marriage. Betty is also preceded in death by a son-in-law, Earl Banfield Jr.
Family and friends may call from 11 a.m. until the time of the service at noon at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, material tributes may take form of donations to masses in her memory or Hospice of the Valley.
The Mastell family would like to thank Hospice of the Valley and Glenellen Assisted Living for their compassion and care.
Burial will take place at a later date at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery.
