Youngstown - Services will be Saturday at 11:00 AM at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home, Austintown Chapel for Betty K. Whitaker age 67 of Youngstown who passed away Thursday morning at her home after a lengthy battle with cancer.
Betty was born September 3, 1937, in Youngstown, the daughter of William and Lucille Frey Kirkpatrick.
She had worked as a proxy clerk and receptionist for Butler Wick and Company for over 25 years before retiring in 2000. She was a lifelong member of Pleasant Grove Presbyterian Church and Eagles Aerie # 3298 in Austintown. Betty was a 1955 graduate of South High School where she stayed active as a member of its reunion committee.
She is survived by her husband Thomas M. Whitaker whom she married October 1, 1960, two daughters Kathleen and her husband Robert Rose of Newton Falls, and Karen and her husband Paul Bernard of Austintown, a son Patrick and his wife Patricia Whitaker of Boardman, a sister, Billie and her husband James Finnie of Ft. Myers, Florida, and nine grandchildren, Bryan and Devin Whitaker, Makayla and Shawn Haines, Dante and Gianna Bernard, Jimmy and Kristy Rose, and Ronnie Haines.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Friends may call Friday evening from 5 PM to 8 PM, and Saturday morning from 9 AM until the time of services at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home, Austintown Chapel.
The family requests that material tributes take the form of donations to either the American Cancer Society of the Church memorial fund in Betty's name.
