YOUNGSTOWN - Funeral Services will be Monday at 10:30 a.m. at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church for Blanche Sekeres, 82, formerly of Shepherd of the Valley in Poland, who passed away early Friday morning at Forum Health Northside Medical Center.
Blanche was born July 7, 1926, the daughter of John and Judith Hruska Ratay.
Blanche was a graduate of Chaney High School and attended Youngstown State University. She worked in the accounting department where she was the payroll supervisor for William Cafaro and Associates for more than 20 years.
Blanche was a member of St. John Evangelical Church and their Ladies Altar Guild. She served on church counsel and taught Sunday school. She loved gardening and spending time with family, especially her grandchildren and great-granddaughters.
Blanche leaves a daughter, Judiann Donald Dohallow of Peachtree City, Ga.; a son, Robert Antal of North Jackson; five grandchildren, Paul Christina Antal of Lake Milton, Steven Cristal Antal of Lordstown, Ryan Dohallow of Smyrna, Ga., Alysha Dohallow of Boston and Tyler Dohallow of Vance AFB, Okla.; two great-granddaughters, Madison and Miranda Antal; a sister, Lillian Asimakopoulos of Austintown; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. She also leaves her beloved cat, Black Beauty.
Blanche was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Paul Antal, whom she married in 1947 and he passed away in 1962; her second husband, Eugene A. Sekeres, whom she married Nov. 24, 1965 and he passed away Aug. 15, 2000; three sisters, Helen Sutton, Ethel Lerch and Alice Powell; and three brothers, John Kovach, John and Paul Ratay.
Friends may call Sunday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home, Austintown Chapel and Monday from 10 to 10:30 a.m. at the church.
The family requests in lieu of flowers, take the form of donations to the church memorial fund or Shepherd of the Valley in Poland.
