BERLIN CENTER - Funeral services will be Monday at noon at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, North Jackson Chapel, for Bobby G. Yates, 78, who died peacefully Friday morning at Auburn Skills Nursing Home, surrounded by his family.
Bobby was born Nov. 4, 1939, in Grundy, Va., the son of Malcolm and Fannie (Deel) Yates.
He worked as a coordinator for General Motors for 30 years until retiring.
Bobby was a member of Heritage Baptist Church. He loved antique cars and had restored several. Bobby also enjoyed gardening and fishing.
Bobby is survived by his wife, the former Betty Looney, whom he married March 12, 1960; two daughters, Cindy (Brian) Powell of Lake Milton and Shiela (Mike) Pence of Berlin Center; three sisters, Shirley Burwell of Bolivar, Lillian Yates of Virginia and Bonnie Browning of Virginia; three brothers, Ferlie (Delphine) Yates of Mansfield, Johnny (Etta) Yates of Virginia and Malcolm (Keitha) Yates Jr. of Virginia; seven grandchildren, Shannan Dinger, Michael Pence, Brian Pence, Marissa Pence, Thomas Macioszek, Brian Powell and Danielle Powell; and five great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by his parents; and sister Mildred Barnes.
Family and friends may call on Monday at the funeral home for one hour prior to the service.
The family has requested that material tributes take the form of donations to Harbor Light Hospice, 4531 Belmont Ave. Unit 9, Youngstown, OH 44505; or Heritage Baptist Church, 6111 S Salem-Warren Road, North Jackson, OH 44451.
