AUSTINTOWN - Funeral services celebrating the life of Mr. Brian William Leskovec, 55, who passed away Friday afternoon, Oct. 21, at Briarfield Manor, following an extended illness, will be held Saturday at noon, at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Austintown Chapel, officiated by the Rev. Michael Swierz.
Brian was born in Youngstown on Oct. 19, 1961, the son of William and Donna (Mancini) Leskovec of Austintown. He celebrated his 55th birthday two days prior to his passing.
He was a 1979 graduate of Austintown Fitch High School, where he was a proud member of the varsity football team. He attended Youngstown State University, and was a graduate of ATES Technical School. He was formerly employed as an IT consultant at EDS Technologies in Charlotte, N.C. and Chase Bank, Limited Brands headquarters and Victoria's Secret headquarters in Columbus. He was of the Catholic faith.
An enthusiastic music lover, particularly the Beatles and classic rock, Brian also treasured spending time with his animals, especially his beloved Siberian Husky, Pepper. He was an avid history and trivia buff, and his gift to the world was his wonderful sense of humor. He enjoyed watching old movies, History Channel programming, and nostalgic television shows.
He was a lifelong, and often beleaguered, follower of the Cleveland Browns, and a devoted fan of the Ohio State Buckeyes and the Austintown Fitch Falcons. He was eagerly looking forward to supporting the Cleveland Indians in their quest for a World Series title.
Although faced with a multitude of health-related challenges and setbacks, Brian always remained courageous and optimistic and often shared inspirational, motivating and amusing posts on social media to aid in improving his own health and well-being.
Cherished memories of Brian will be carried on by his sons, Christopher and Craig Leskovec of Delaware, Ohio; his parents, William and Donna (Mancini) Leskovec of Austintown; his sister, Angela (Leskovec) Williams of Solon; his nephew, Connor Williams of Solon; his nephew and godson, Brennan Williams of Solon; and his many aunts, uncles, and cousins on both the Leskovec and Mancini sides of the family.
Brian was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Andrew and Anna (Stefanac) Leskovec; his maternal grandparents, Christy and Angela (Alexander) Mancini; his godmother, Virginia (Koker) Mancini; and his brother-in-law, Jim Williams.
The Leskovec family would like to extend heartfelt gratitude to Brian's dedicated caregivers at Briarfield Manor, especially his nurse, Becky Pennell, for the kind and compassionate care shown to him during these past three years.
As Brian deeply cared for all animals, the family requests that, in lieu of flowers, contributions be sent in Brian's name to an animal charity of choice.
Family and friends may pay their respects Saturday from 9 to 11:55 a.m. at the funeral home.
