YOUNGSTOWN - Private services were held Monday for Mr. Bryan Joseph Olesen, 59, who passed away peacefully Friday morning at Hospice House, following a courageous two-year battle with cancer, with his loving family at his bed side.
Mr. Olesen was born on Sept. 11, 1956, in Youngstown, the son of Lawrence N. and Geraldine (Yavorick) Olesen. He was a lifelong area resident.
He was a graduate of Youngstown State University with a Bachelor's degree in Music Education.
Bryan had a love for photography. One of his favorite things to do was capture precious moments on camera with his lifelong companion, Shauna. He was an advanced amateur photographer, whose work appeared in numerous magazines over the years. He also enjoyed music and traveling.
Bryan retired from Xerox in 2015, after 30 years as a software developer.
Bryan will be lovingly remembered by his mother, Geraldine Olesen; companion of over 30 years, Shauna Sechrist; sister Gerry Pletenik of Poland; and brother Neil (Patty) Olesen of Oklahoma.
He was preceded in death by his father, Lawrence Olesen.
Bryan's family would like to thank the Hope Center for Cancer Care for their compassionate care of Bryan, and requests material contributions be made to them in Bryan's name at 835 Southwestern Run, Youngstown, OH 44514.
Bryan was laid to rest at Poland Riverside Cemetery.
