BOARDMAN - Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home, Boardman-Canfield Chapel for Mr. Burdette E. Baker, 81, who died Friday afternoon at St. Elizabeth Boardman Health Center.
He was born Jan. 11, 1930, in Warren, a son of Burdette Baker and Estelle Wertman Baker Glaros.
Burdette was a 1948 graduate of South High School and was a U.S. Air Force Korean conflict veteran. He was employed by Ohio Valley Sheeting Residential General Painting Company as its manager, retiring in 1992. Burdette was a member of Builders Association of Eastern Ohio, the Eagles 213, a former member of the Youngstown Country Club and Fonderlac and many golf leagues.
He leaves his wife, Marian McCarthy, whom he married June 30, 1956; a daughter, Catherine Baker of Youngstown; three sons, George Sheryl Baker of Columbus, Burdette Baker and Jim Sharon Baker, both of Boardman; and six grandchildren, Brian, Gina, Colleen, Caty, Burdette and Jim.
Burdette was preceded in death by his dad, Burdette; his mom, Estelle Glaros; and his stepfather, George Glaros.
Friends may call Monday from 4 to 7 p.m. and Tuesday from 10 a.m. till the time of service at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Ursuline Mother House or to St. Dominic's Building Fund in the memory of Burdette.
