Carl Lough

May 18, 1935 — January 3, 2015

BOARDMAN - Carl R. Lough, 79, died after a sudden onset and intense struggle with terminal cancer on Saturday, Jan. 3, 2015, in Boardman.

He was born May 18, 1935, in Caress, W.Va. to Minter J. and Belva G. (Dennison) Lough.

In 1953, he moved to Youngstown to work for the Youngstown Parking Garage, owned by his maternal uncle.

In 1955, he married Loretta J. (Garcia) Lough, and together they had one daughter, Belva.

Carl had an extensive career in the excavation industry, beginning with Shutrump Construction Companies, and Hyland Excavating, and then the formation of his own company, S (Squires) & L Excavating.

In 1978, he and his wife moved to Charleston, S.C., where they lived for 29 years, during which time Carl was employed as the Project Superintendent for Rogers & Son Construction Co., the primary developers of Kiawah Island, S.C. He retired in 1999, but remained active with the Rogers Co. as a consultant.

In 2005, Carl and his wife returned to Ohio, residing in Boardman. There, Carl remained active outdoors, taking extraordinary pride in his lawn and gardens where he made wonderful friendships with his new neighbors.

Carl is survived by his wife, Loretta; his daughter, Belva; two sisters, Thelma D. Berndt of Boardman and Elizabeth "June" Webb of Bradenton, Fla.; and one brother, Thomas F. of Baltimore.

He was predeceased by two brothers, Minter "Paul" and Goodrich "Harold."

Carl also leaves numerous loving nieces, nephews, their spouses, and his best friend, his dog, "Buster."

There will be no calling hours. A memorial function to be held for family and friends will be announced soon.

Our Father, which art in heaven,

Hallowed be thy Name.

Thy Kingdom come.

Thy will be done in earth,

As it is in heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread.

And forgive us our trespasses,

As we forgive them that trespass against us.

And lead us not into temptation,

But deliver us from evil.

For thine is the kingdom,

The power, and the glory,

Forever and ever.

Amen.

Professional arrangements are being handled by Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Boardman-Canfield Chapel.
