POLAND There will be funeral services Monday at 10:30 a.m. at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home, Poland Chapel, and at 11 a.m. at the Holy Family Church, Poland for Carmen DeLuca, 78, who died Thursday evening at his residence.
Carmen was born April 29, 1928 in Girardville, Pa., the son of Peter and Assunta DiMauro DeLuca, and moved to this area in 1949.
He was a graduate of Girardville High School and attended Youngstown State University and West Virginia University. He was a draftsman in the engineering department at East Ohio Gas for 34 years.
Carmen married "the love of his life," Elizabeth Betty Mediate, Jan. 13, 1949 at Sacred Heart Church.
He was a devoted family man and was there for anyone who needed him. He enjoyed fishing and was excellent at carpentry, was a member of the church, was a Korean Conflict Army veteran who served in Germany and was a Third and Fourth Degree Knight of the Struthers and Poland Knights of Columbus. He also served as the ³Exalted Ruler² for Youngstown Elk¹s Lodge No 55.
Carmen is survived by his wife, Betty; a daughter, Rose Mary Memo and her husband Dr. Richard Memo; two sisters, Anna Frank Coon and Flo Moyer, both of Pennsylvania; a brother, Peter Mary DeLuca of New York; four
grandchildren, Michael Nicole Memo, Dr. Mark Christina Memo, Daniel Erin Memo and Susan Alex Schmitt; five great-grandchildren; and his faithful companion, his dog, Princess.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Jenny DeLuca; and two brothers, Ralph and Joseph DeLuca.

Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday and from 10 to 10:30 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.
