AUSTINTOWN - Carol L. Bassett died on Tuesday, Aug. 25, 2015, from pancreatic cancer.
She was born July 21, 1943, a daughter of Clarence H. and Emiline M. Kuhns Frondorf (McGahagan).
She was a 1961 graduate of South High School and a member of the Western Reserve Methodist Church, where she belonged to the church's mission sewing for many years. She also belonged to the Lydia Circle at the Christ Church Presbyterian.
She retired as the first secretary for the guidance counselors at Austintown Fitch High School in 2001, after which she thoroughly enjoyed reading, making quilts, and spending time with her family.
Carol leaves behind her devoted husband, Fred M., whom she married in 1966; a son, Paul M. Bassett; a daughter, Amy R. (Taige) Zender; five grandchildren, Ian and Aubrey Bassett, and Caleb, Jared and Zachary Zender; a brother, Richard W. Frondorf of Hattiesburg, Miss.; and a stepbrother, Daniel McGahagan of Columbus.
Family and friends may offer condolences to the family at the Western Reserve Methodist Church, located at 4580 Canfield Road, Canfield, from 1 to 4 p.m. on Monday. A memorial service will follow at the church.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to Hospice House, 9803 Sharrott Road, Poland, OH 44514.
The Bassett family has entrusted Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Austintown Chapel with Carol's arrangements.
