"Together Again"

NEW MIDDLETOWN - Prayers will begin Thursday afternoon at 12:15 p.m. at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Poland Chapel, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 1 p.m. at St. Paul the Apostle Church in New Middletown for Carol T. Sinkovich, 87, who died Monday afternoon at Assumption Village.

Carol was born March 12, 1927, in Youngstown, the daughter of Joseph and Angela (Franko) Ciavarella.

She had worked at the former McKelvey's / Higbee's Department Store and later as a cook at Cardinal Mooney High School. She was a member of St. Paul the Apostle Church, its Ladies Guild and would volunteer as a pirohy pincher for the Parrish's famous pirohy sales. Carol will always be remembered as an excellent homemaker and outstanding cook and baker, especially her pies.

Her husband, Mike Sinkovich, whom she married March of 1945, died Feb. 6, 2007.

She is survived by three daughters, Ellen Sandel of Boardman, Carol Hovanes of New Middletown and Nancy (Larry) Mena of Farmington, Minn.; a son, Frank (Mary) Sinkovich of Boardman; 10 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by four sisters, Mary Fratino, Helen Shepherd, Jennie Ferncez and Lucy Mazzeo; and four brothers, Angelo, Michael, Anthony and Louis Ciavarella.

The family has requested that material tributes take the form of donations to Hospice House in Carol's memory.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Poland Chapel.
