AUSTINTOWN - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, and prayers offered at 10 a.m. at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home, Austintown Chapel for Catherine M. DeCenso, 89, who died Monday morning at Assumption Village.
Catherine was born April 17, 1919 in Youngstown to the late Martin and Mary Martinko Hripko.
She was a member of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, and a member of their Senior Citizens Club. During WWII, she was employed at McKensie Muffler as a welder. She loved playing bingo and cards, sometimes playing bingo every night.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Helen Friedman and Mary Fabry; and six brothers, Martin, Joseph, John, Steve, Andrew and George Hripko.
She is survived by her husband of 54 years, John M. DeCenso of Austintown, whom she married May 1, 1954; a son, James Geri DeCenso of North Lima; and two brothers, Chief Peppy Hripko and Paul Wilma Hripko.
Friends may call Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Burial will be at Resurrection Cemetery.
