Catherine Welsh

AUSTINTOWN - A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at St Joseph Church for Catherine M. Welsh, 81, who passed away Saturday evening at St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital.

Catherine was born March. 25, 1937, in Masury, a daughter of the late Edward and Margaret (Curtin) Manion.

Catherine graduated from Brookfield High School. She retired from Austinwoods, where she worked in housekeeping. Catherine devoted her life to taking care of her children and grandchildren. She loved her animals and enjoyed baking.

Her husband, James M. Welsh, whom she married July 27, 1957, passed away April 28, 1985.

Catherine leaves her daughter, Cathy (Bill Jakubek) Welsh with whom she made her home in Austintown; a son, Jim (Michelle) Welsh of Houston; two grandsons, James and Jason Welsh; a granddaughter, Julie Jakubek; six great-grandchildren Addisyn, Gabriel, Dakota, Sophie, Pheobe Welsh, and Janessa Virola; and four sisters, Margaret Jackson, Jackie Hoelzle, Patricia Manion, and Bonnie Filipovich.

Catherine was also preceded in death by a sister, Elizabeth Gilmartin and a brother, Edward Manion Jr.

Family and friends may call Tuesday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Austintown Chapel and Wednesday from 10 to 10:45 a.m. at the church.
