CAMPBELL - Services will be Monday at 10:00 AM at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, North Jackson Chapel for Charles R. "Charlie" Baird age 43 formerly of Lake Milton, who died Wednesday afternoon from injuries sustained in a trucking accident on East Bound Interstate 80. Charlie was born January 29, 1972 in Youngstown, the son of Charles and Donna (Jenkins) Baird. He was a 1991 Southeast High School graduate and had been the three time U.S. Amateur Boxing Associations heavy weight champ. He had also qualified and was a member of the U.S. Olympic Boxing Team.
He was the owner/operator of A & C Cores for many years.
He was a member of American Legion Post # 737 of Lake Milton, the Moose Lodge in Mecca and the Fraternal Order of Eagles in Minerva. Charlie loved spending time with his friends, singing Karaoke and camping, and was an avid Miami Dolphins fan.
He will be forever missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his wife the former April L. McConnel whom he married September 11, 2010,
His mother Donna Baird of Vero Beach, FLA, two daughters; Kaitlyn Baird, Kelli Baird of Diamond, two sons; Charlie Ray Baird, Jr. of Diamond and Mason Hughs of Lake Milton, two step sons; Jarrod L. Figley and Gaven R. Cordell both at home, two brothers; J.T. (Shauna) Baird and Billy Baird of Vero Beach, FLA, a granddaughter Kyleigh, two brothers-in-law; Justin Salata of Coitsville and Rick McClain of Austintown, his best friend Rod Shaw and many uncles, aunts, cousins and nieces and nephews.
Friends may call Sunday from 3 PM until 7 PM at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, North Jackson Chapel 439 S, Salem-Warren Rd, (Rt 45) North Jackson.
