POLAND - A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. the Holy Family Church for Charles J. Hura, 91, who passed away Friday evening at his home.
Charles was born April 24, 1922, in Youngstown, a son of the late Charles M. and Mary (Borovsky) Hura.
Charles graduated from Ursuline High School and Carnegie Melon University. He served in the Army Air Corps during World War II. He was Senior Vice President for the Automatic Sprinkler Corporation of America for over 40 years.
His wife, the former Joanne K. O'Neill, whom he married April 12, 1957, passed away March 29, 2003.
Charles leaves his two daughters, Susan (fiancé John Liana) Tisone and Judith Shaffer-Smith, both of Poland; three brothers, Charles M. (fiancé Gina) Hura of Fairport, N.Y., Gregory (Carol) Hura of Atlanta, and Gordon (Melissa) Hura of Gahanna; and seven grandchildren, Greg, Kevin, Samantha, CJ, Tommy, Zach and Autumn.
Charles was also preceded in death by a sister, Mary Lou Friedman; and a brother, Dr. Donald Hura.
Family and friends may call Wednesday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the church.
Burial will take place at Calvary Cemetery.
Material tributes may take the form of donations to Hospice of the Valley.
Professional arrangements are being handled by the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Poland Chapel.
