EAST PALESTINE - A memorial service will be held Thursday at 6 p.m. at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Poland Chapel for Charles R. Hurd, 74, who passed way Tuesday, July 1, 2014.
Charles was born Feb. 16, 1940, in Pittsburgh, a son of the late Charles S. and Florence C. (Ritchey) Hurd.
Charles was a graduate of Perry High School in Pittsburgh. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1958 to 1966. He was the owner of Custom Mowing in East Palestine. Charles was a roller skating coach for many years at numerous roller rinks including the Rollerena in East Palestine. He was also an avid ballroom dancer and loved scuba diving.
Charles leaves behind many dear friends, including Darlene Carothers and family and Brian Lomardo and family.
Material tributes may take the form of donations to Hospice of the Valley, 5190 Market St., Boardman, OH 44512.
Family and friends may pay their respects Thursday from 5 to 6 p.m. at the funeral home.
