POLAND - A Mass of Christian Burial will be today at 10 a.m. at the Holy Family Church for Charles G. Premec, 64, who passed away Wednesday afternoon at his home after a four month battle with pancreatic cancer.
Charles was born Feb. 9, 1946, in Youngstown, the son of Stephen and Ann Stupar Premec.
Charles graduated from Poland Seminary High School. He received an associate degree as a draftsman. He was a Navy and Naval Air Force veteran, serving in Vietnam.
He was a dye maker for Amex Tool & Die for 26 years and was a machine operator for P&L Heat Treating for the last four years, retiring two years ago. He served two tours in Vietnam and received the National Defense Service Medal, two Bronze Stars in Vietnam. He was a member of the Holy Family Church. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, golf and loved the outdoors.
Charles leaves his wife, the former Helen Pociask, whom he married Nov. 14, 1970; two daughters, Kimberly Michael McCully of Newbury and Kristy Matthew Gentile of New Middletown; two sisters, JoAnne Robert Spay of Akron and Francis Ted Barwinski of Hubbard; a brother, Richard Rita Premec of Youngstown; five grandchildren, Dennis and Oliver McCully and Dante, Marco and Jake Charles Gentile; mother-in-law, Aniela Pociask; brother-in-law, William Tatiana Pociask; sister-in-law, Irene Metcalf; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Margaret Korchnak; and three brothers, Stephen, John and Stephen E. Premec.
